The Community Checkup is a report comparing health care across the Puget Sound region. It lays a foundation for everyone in King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish and Thurston Counties to build on for working together to improve health and health care quality and affordability. The report clearly shows that everyone has room to improve.

The Community Checkup report website presents data on the quality of care provided by hospitals, clinics, health plans and other health care providers in the Puget Sound region. Visitors to the website will also find useful information and practical resources that can be helpful when making decisions about their health care and suggests what they can do to improve their health.

Using the Community Checkup

This document describes how patients and other health care consumers, health care providers, health plans, employers and union trusts can use the Community Checkup to help ensure that local health care is as effective, safe and as affordable as possible.

Understanding the Community Checkup
This document describes the approach and rationale the Alliance used to create the Community Checkup report, including the data sources and time periods, validation steps, expected updates, definitions and more.

What Is Quality Health Care?

This document describes how the Community Checkup report defines quality health care and how it focuses mostly on effective care, or care that the medical community agrees works best to promote better health, especially for
chronic conditions such as asthma, depression, diabetes and heart disease.

Rules of Use for Community Checkup Report Results

Rules of Use refers to the distribution and use of the results in the Community Checkup report as well as the distribution and use of additional data that is generated during the process. This policy has been in effect since the release of the July 2009 Community Checkup Report and applies to all distribution and use of the public report and to the distribution of use of additional data generated through the reporting process.
