2010

Putting Health Reform Into Action

A discussion about how the new health reform law will affect the country and a how a new pilot project in the state could help change the health care payment system. The keynote speaker is Jonathan Cohn, journalist, health reform expert and author, who explains how federal legislation came to take the shape that it did and the impact local health care leaders can have on the success of reform. Steve Hill, chair of the Puget Sound Health Alliance and director of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems discusses an innovative “patient-centered medical home” payment reform project led by the State and the Alliance. Presented by the Puget Sound Health Alliance thanks to a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Michael W. Painter JD, MD, a senior program officer and a senior member of the Robert Wood John Foundation Quality/Equality Team, discusses how the Foundation’s work helps to support the movement to improve quality and value in health care in communities across the nation.
